Fracture advances players to the year 2161, where the effects of global warming have altered the planet’s landscape, and a clash in ideologies over human enhancement places society on the threshold of war. In utilizing the core gameplay mechanic of Fracture, a destructive next-generation technology known as Terrain Deformation, players are equipped with an arsenal of futuristic weaponry to strategically reshape their surroundings on the fly. Every action they perform dynamically reshapes the earth in ways no videogame has ever seen.

Players set foot on the frontlines of this epic conflict in the role of Jet Brody, a demolitions expert fighting for the Atlantic Alliance, who rely upon cybernetic enhancement. Pitted against the genetically enhanced soldiers of the Pacifican army, players will experience a revolution in 22nd-century warfare. When Brody throws a tectonic grenade onto a level battlefield, the ground blasts upward providing access to otherwise unreachable areas or providing cover against approaching enemies. Surrounded on all sides by Pacifican forces, Brody heaves a vortex grenade, creating a swirling tornado-like mass of boulder, dirt and debris to dispatch his foes. These are just a few samples of the possibilities for Terrain Deformation. Players not only change the battlefield – they change the face of the battle itself.

Reshape the battlefield with terrain shattering weapons: Experience a dynamic battlefield that is unique every time you play. Use never–before-seen weapons to fracture, crater, freeze, or elevate the earth. Unleash a subterranean torpedo toward your enemy and literally blast the earth from beneath his feet. For the first time, players can mold a war zone for an advantage to push the attack or mount a defense.

Experience a story of betrayal and revenge: Follow the journey of a patriotic Atlantic Alliance soldier when an act of treason launches him into the lethal battlefield of the 22nd century, as forces wage a battle of genetics vs. cybernetics. In a war that divides loyalties and tests the bonds of country and family, this soldier’s discoveries will ultimately decide the fate of North America and perhaps the world.

Multi-player & co-operative play allows the terrain deforming battles to rage on: Choose the side of the genetically enhanced Pacificans or the cybernetically powerful Atlantic Alliance, then jump online and exploit your chosen sides advantages as Terrain Deformation and Genetic vs. Cybernetic elements allow for endless hours of fun with friends online.

Fight for control of familiar locations and landmarks: The last World Wars were fought in Europe, but the next great global war will be fought on American soil. Battle in famous locations across the United States. Defend the Atlantic Alliance in Washington, DC, fight the decisive battle for control of Pacifica in the basin of the now-empty San Francisco bay and uncover the secret that will determine the world’s fate in the Southwest Desert.

This game is completely different from anything you will play. The whole idea of terrain deformation (TD), creates a whole new concept of gameplay. Being able to actually morph your terrain to your advantage is something unheard of in other games.

The graphics in the game are also very good and various types of terrain/weather are experienced in the game (snowing, underground, expansive fields, dangerious environments etc).

I felt that the game incorporated lots of different forms of gameplay from all-out fighting, to driving vehicles, and even puzzle-solving to get through obstacles.

The weapons on the are also pretty neat. Although other games might have similar weapons, many of the weapons on Fracture are one-of-a-kind that can wreak total havoc. The grenades are superior to any other kind of grenade that I have seen (including a type that creates an all-powerful vortex that sucks anything and everything into it).

Another aspect that many people are interested in as well is the online gameplay. Due to all of the details I just described, the online gameplay is also very good. Working as a team by morphing terrain for your buddies to their advantage, very expansive levels, and completely unpredictable gameplay makes for an awesome online experience.

One of the best qualities I think of this game is that it contains more action than I have ever seen in various scenes throughout the game. At some points there is so much gunfire, explosions, terrain morphing, giant dreadnoughts, missiles and underground torpedos all going on at the same time it truly feels like an all-out war. I truly think that anyone that gets this game will definitely enjoy it because it isn’t like all the same ole stupid first-person shooters that everybody creates today. Many people never truly give a good review of a game and simply just say, “game is awful”……or “i couldn’t figure out the controls so it sucked”…….and those are people that don’t need to be giving reviews in the first place since they don’t help anybody. I don’t really have any negative comments for this game other than the fact, and this is rare to hear, but some parts have almost too much action in which it seems almost impossible to get through it. Otherwise, I think it is a solid game and a game that most will definitely appreciate.

This game isn’t bad, but it’s not all that good either. Especially stacked up against other Third Person Shooters. The main problem is the way they throw enemies at you. A lot of TPS suffer from this problem. Where the developers deem it a good idea to just flood you with a ton of enemies. Enemies which aren’t even that smart. Use the entrencher to raise some cover, then just peer out and take out a few. Go back down behind cover to recharge shields, then rinse and repeat. Using teh entrencher to bring back up your cover if the enemies manage to throw a granade to lower it.

It’s tedious more than it is fun. Now this wouldn’t be a problem if you could switch it up properly. However, the enemies are accurate. Even if they sit in the same spots while you sit there doing nothing behind some ground cover. [literally] So you can’t charge in. There are few instances where you’re allowed to do this because of all the enemies that they toss in at you.

    Here’s the campaign in a nutshell;

    Fight enemies in large room

    Go down narrow passage

Come out into a large room where you fight more enemies

    Solve Puzzle or Kill Boss

Repeat. That’s pretty much it with the exception of near the end where you actually get some close quarter action, which is too little too late.

Controls work fine. You fire often gets blocked by trees, rocks, whatever you’re standing behind though. Which is frustrating.

The final boss was very, VERY disappointing. He was, without spoiling anything, simply a recolor of a previous enemy type you fought multiple times before. Story is pretty meh. The main character isn’t interesting. The online is pretty much dead, with good reason. I managed to get into a match earlier this year and it was not fun.

This is a short lived experience and not that great of one. It’s an average game through and through. Worth getting only if the price is right.

Fracture was a pretty good game. The ability to manipulate the terrain was a cool new concept, but by the end of the game the novelty wore off. No regrets to buying it, but certainly not a best-seller!

I was sooo skeptical about playing this game but since I got it for 10 bucks what the hell I gave it a try thinking it was going to be bad. But I found a pleasant surprise. It is not the best game I have played but it is a cool game that satisfies what I look for when playing games: to have fun, and this game does it very well. And for people who think this is a hard game, you guys need some serious training, old school training.
