Blast off for outrageously funny space travel in this screwball comedy that spins wildly out of control all the way to Mars! Though he’s a whiz with computers, accident-prone astro-nut Fred Randall (comedian Harland Williams – “Dumb And Dumber”) is the last guy on Earth you’d want on the first manned mission to Mars. But as bad luck and poor timing would have it, that’s exactly what happens and Fred undergoes rigorous, if not hilarious, training at NASA. After that, it’s t-minus a reality check

Purhaps my love for this movie is because the first time I watched it, I was with a bunch of slap-happy children. We laughed and laughed and it instantly won a place in my heart. It’s now one of my family’s comedy classics. We return to it whenever we just need to laugh and slapstick silliness and lighten our mood. It’s too bad it seemed to commercially flop and has become a somewhat difficult-to-find cult film. I always recommend it to friends who enjoy watching movies with their kids, and nobody has been disappointed. They know they’re getting into a “stupid” movie, and they love it!

Tuesday evening, eightish. My girlfriend and I sitting around, bored, trying to think of something to do. 2 weeks prior we watched The Whole Nine Yards when, much to my surprise and delight, Harland Williams made a cameo. I commented that this guy was hilarious and my girlfriend asked if I had ever seen Rocketman. I said no and she said we will watch it some day because it was so funny. I agreed and continued watching the movie. Back to Tuesday evening. My girlfriend suggests we go rent Rocketman. Off to Block…. uh, a video store we go, and I read the box for Rocketman. Red lights go off in my mind. “A Disney movie?” “Spaceship?” “Monkey?”. All these things added up in my head and suddenly my enthusiasm for seeing this movie died. I pictured myself sitting through an incredibly sophomoric kids movie for 90 minutes. As it turns out, that’s kind of what happened, but this one was VERY different. My sides still hurt from laughing so hard. Harland Williams is a riot in this movie. Picture Jim Carrey if he were not so annoying. Sure, there are the body noise jokes, but outside of that there is some really funny stuff here. Kids will like it for the things you expect from a Disney movie, but adults will find this one funny as well. Lots of classic lines including but not limited to: “Fun is my Chinese neighbor’s middle name” and “I’m 30 years old Mom! I’m practically a grown man!” You have to rent this just to see his anti theft system for his car! My advice here is rent or buy this movie if you have had a long, stressful week and you just need to laugh for 90 minutes. You will feel a lot better afterwards….for all my movie reviews check out my website at fromtheblackchair.blogspot

Working at a movie store where I recommend many movies, I always recommend this movie for the best comedy ever! This movie is so good, they really need to get this out on DVD! It has been my favorite, as well as a family favorite for years now! We just can’t get enough of Fred Z. Randall! I recommend this movie for all! Again, WE NEED THIS ON DVD!

First I agree, this is a very funny! However, you must be warned, watching this movie is dangerous! I was laughing so hard I could not breath!!! I’m serious! I thought I was going to die! I had to turn away from the screen and totally get my mind off the film before I could stop laughing long enough to get a breath of air. Absolutely do not eat popcorn while watching this film. I promise you, you will choke! This incredulous movie is so funny that you have not time to recover from one funny incident to the next! This movie needs a warning label on it: WARNING! This movie could cause you to die laughing! REALLY! You must take this warning seriously!

It’s a great movie and we’ve waited quite a few years to get it on DVD. But, your prices are ridiculous — It’s cheaper to join the Disney Movie Club and by it from them (plus get more movies for your money.
